Samantha Thibert Harrill

After a three-month search process with applicants from across the nation, the Warroad RiverPlace Board of Directors is pleased to announce the hiring of Samantha Thibert Harrill as Executive Director, succeeding John Davis, Director Emeritus, who will retire at the end of the year. A recognized artist, designer, arts educator, and a key figure with RiverPlace since its conceptual stages, Thibert Harrill brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to championing the arts and fostering community development. She will guide the arts, culture, and events center into its second year of operation, furthering its mission to serve as a vibrant and welcoming space for creative expression, community connectedness, and cultural enrichment in the region.

A dedicated member of the Warroad community, Thibert Harrill initially volunteered with RiverPlace during its planning phases, playing an integral role in bringing the center’s vision to life through her expertise in space planning and programming.

As a proven leader, Thibert Harrill joined the staff as Director of Operations and Events in the spring of 2024, working to ensure the day-to-day success of the facility’s performance hall, classroom, art gallery, and outdoor spaces. Beyond curating gallery exhibitions that captivate visitors, she led the development of dynamic classroom programming and engaging group experiences that inspire creativity and encourage people to connect with the arts in new ways.

Since her appointment as Interim Executive Director in July 2025, Thibert Harrill has overseen fiscal management, facility operations, partnerships, and board relations, while laying the groundwork to expand RiverPlace’s fundraising efforts.

“Samantha is a standout leader whose passion for the arts and belief in the transformative power of creativity to change lives and bring people together perfectly align with RiverPlace’s mission,” said Paul Marvin, Chair of the Board. “With a remarkable ability to guide strategic vision, build connections, and nurture meaningful programming, we are confident that Samantha will continue to strengthen RiverPlace’s impact and commitment to serving the community and region.”

“RiverPlace has been a passion project close to my heart from the very beginning. I was so moved by what it meant for our community that I joined the staff, wanting to be a part of something bigger than myself,” said Thibert Harrill. “RiverPlace is a welcoming space for all, and I feel so deeply grateful to share the arts with people of Warroad and our northern region. Stepping into the role of Executive Director is both humbling and exciting, and I look forward to continuing this journey as we grow our programming and grow together as a community.”

Thibert Harrill, a native of Red Lake Falls, Minn., holds a degree in Design and Fine Arts from Bemidji State University. With a professional background in design, she played a key role in leading and consulting on community development projects in Warroad, contributing to downtown revitalization and the creation of new business opportunities.

A talented potter and versatile artist, Thibert Harrill's work has been showcased in multiple galleries. In addition to her artistic practice, she actively serves on arts and culture boards, including the Bemidji State University Art and Design Advisory Board and the Northborn Days Music Festival, where her leadership and vision continue to shape the region’s creative landscape.
